Another Adventure Begins

One of our little traditions is to go sit on the rocks at the harbormaster building on Ft. Story and watch the ship leave.
The kids love to climb around on the rocks. The moss makes them a little bit slippery though.

Bye Dad!
It is sad to watch the ship leave, and some people wonder why we go and watch. It's just something that we've done since Kirk started going to sea. I think it helps the kids and I to actually see that Kirk is leaving on the ship. When we don'twatch the ship, I always wonder if they actually pulled away from the pier or if they are still in port. Kind of silly, but it's just something we've done for 20 years.

Bits & Pieces

Everything has been happening so fast lately that I got behind with my blogging. Here are a couple of bits and pieces to tide you over until I get caught up.
Some of the Young Women at a pre-camp meeting.
I could'nt believe that some of the girls had never had smores. We had to educate them on the making of smores and on the art of playing horseshoes.
On Memorial Day, Kirk was at sea. We were invited to have a cookout with Grandpa & Grandma "Bishop". It was so good. We had B-BQ ribs & chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, and pistachio salad. It was too good - they had to roll us out of there.
My good friend and former next door neighbor, Cindy was in the area to help her neice move. She lives in Washington. When we lived next to each other, I would often be in the kitchen in the middle of the night getting a bottle for Nellysa or something, and I'd look out the window and there Cindy would be ---- MOPPING the floor. Sure was good to see her, but I miss her.

YM/YW Prom

This is the time of year that tuxidos and formals replace Bass Pro Shop hats, t-shirts, and jeans. But the one thing that remains constant is the cowboy boots.
This particular prom was a church multi-stake prom in Newport News.
Levi was the "token" young man in the group that met at our house before we carpooled to the prom.

They had a live band that played "do-wop", beach-type music. I don't know if the kids liked the music, but the adult chaparones loved it. They also had chocolate fountains and fruit, etc. to dip in the chocolate. (YUM)
