Muddin' Trucks and Sinking Ships

Now that Levi has his (dad's) truck, he washes it about every week and polishes it. Looking pretty good for a 12 year old truck. Oh, and look closely to that CB antenna on the cab. Levi drove the truck around like that for two weeks . Now mind you, he didn't have a CB radio to hook up to the antenna. When I asked him what he was doing with an antenna on his cab, he just wanted to see how it looked and had to ask everyone's opinion. One our good friends took pity on him and gave him one that had sat on a shelf in the garage for years. Levi was thrilled.
Levi thinks that he needs a more manly truck with big wheels, etc. I think one wheel on the trucks that he's looking at cost as much as four tires on our truck. Maybe he should save all of the money that he isn't earning right now and buy bigger tires and new seat covers. The big yellow bus is always another option.
I guess Kirk can't handle hearing about the new/used Chevy that Levi NEEDS to get, it's either that or they are working him too much at work. This is a rare glimpse that we saw of him when he was home for a short amount of time. Time to Waki, waki! The ship might be sinking.

Spring Fever

Spring keeps teasing us. One day it is in the 70's and the very next day it is back down in the 40's. This "spring fever" has got to Levi. He is asking for money every other day to go to the local nursery and get compost, rocks, mulch, and plants. He spent big bucks on a few shrubs and decided to go to Lowe's and buy rooting hormone for $5, so he can grow his own plants from cuttings. I think my yard will be worth more than my house when Levi gets done. It will be nice.

This view of part of our backyard shows some of the progress that Levi is making. When summer comes, the yard should be looking pretty good. Look at how the the tree is starting to show signs of springtime.
I hope that when Levi starts working at the garden center for his internship, he will still have time to work in our yard. You know how it can be when kids get a job and start earning money for themselves.....they suddenly become too important to do things around home (for free)!

What Language?

I overheard a conversation between Nellysa and Kelby the other night. Nellysa (who takes a spanish language class at school) often speaks spanish at home to practice. The only one who understands her is Clancy. The rest of us just look at her with a blank stare. The other night Kelby was commenting on Nellysa speaking in spanish. She replied by telling Kelby that he could have signed up to learn spanish in middle school next year, so why did he sign up for Latin? He told her that he thought latin would be easy because he pretty much already knows how to speak it. Nellysa said "no you don't", and Kelby said "I CAN speak Pig-Latin! So what if I didn't know they weren't the same."

New Job

This week I got a job. It was kind of an odd thing, I was just in the right place at the right time. A friend asked if I knew of someone who would be interested in a temporary job basically being an office assistant. I thought about it and decided to apply.
What was I thinking?? Do you know how long it's been since I've been in the working world? I thought that I had a somewhat current resume' on the computer, but I didn't. It's been so long that I don't even know if they had computers to put a resume' on (ha,ha)
They actually hired me after going in and touring the office. They don't know anything about my previous work experience. They have no idea of how obsessive/compulsive I am about office supplies and organizing/labeling things. I went in to train yesterday and already have the itch to get some new supplies. Since I am just "filling in", I will try to maintain some control.
I don't even know how much I will get paid. Guess that may be a handy thing to know.
Wish me luck with not turning into "Monk" (TV character) and being totally obsessive/compulsive.

Who's Lunch?

Today Kelby and I stopped at Sonic to get some lunch. We sat in the car in a parking lot and started feeding the seagulls. I think the seagulls ended up with more of our lunch than we did, but we had fun. They even flew up and would take the food out of your fingers. Kelby kept trying to hold his hand out the window, but as soon as they would get close, he would drop the food and pull his arm back in the car. Just a little too nervous for that.

Sophisticated Cats!

SOPHISTICATED...........or...........HUNGRY

This is one of Kirk's classic books. I am assuming that one of the cats just wanted to better himself by trying to read it!

I hope the bookmark is in the correct place which would mean that Kirk has passed the shredded part.

"You have no proof that it was me!"

Don't worry Kirk, we'll buy the cats more catfood and we'll get you a new book.

Aircraft Carrier

Just a few pictures that I recently took during a tour on an aircraft carrier
